3 Tips On How To Grow Your Business Even When You Re Broke

Submitted by: Elena Forbes

As a female entrepreneur one of the hardest decisions we have is how to grow our business when we are broke or worse yet we are in debt. As female entrepreneur coaches we often hear, when I get my _____(fill in the blank) paid off then I can grow my business.

This is one of the things that drives me crazy!

It s a hard choice no denying that, but the entire purpose of growing your business is to earn more money and sometimes you have to commit to yourself and your business because the perfect time, never comes.

I know for us it wasn t a perfect time to start and grow our business. We put our expenses on a credit card in order to invest in ourselves and in our online business. For us it worked out and if we hadn t of taken the leap of faith and made the commitment I don t think we would be where we are today. But we could have been smarter about our expenses at the beginning.

The truth is today with the Internet and all the social media sites available to all of us it s easier then ever to grow your business even when your broke.

Here are 3 tips on how to grow your business even when you re broke.

Tip 1. Be clear. Before you grow your business be clear about what you do, whom you do it for and that it is a business and not a hobby. Sounds simple enough put you can t be everything to everybody so niche down your ideal client as much as possible. Speak to your ideal client only. In order for your client to find you they must know you are speaking to them. This will continue to fine tune as you and your business grows so take the time to think about this but don t let it stop you from moving forward.

Tip2. Start your own http://wordpress.org blog. Today it s so easy to have your own blog and start blogging. Blogging is the easiest cheapest way to grow your business. A http://wordpress.org site is not free but it s very inexpensive and it is your own. Other types of sites such as the social media sites or other places you can set up a blog on are not yours. It s important to know the difference. It s like the difference of being an owner versus a renter with no contract. On a http://wordpress.org site you are the owner and it can t be taken away. Social media sites and other blogging sites you are allowed to use but the, rules of engagement can change at any time and you can lose all your hard work. Your http://wordpress.org is yours.

Tip 3. Blog regularly and take advantage of social media. Learn about blogging and using social media for your business message. The Internet and social media have leveled the playing field and made it much easier for every one of us to be entrepreneurs even when we re broke. Learning all the social media sites at once is a daunting task. Pick one social media sight to start with. Learn how to drive people from the social media site to your blog before learning another social media platform. My favorite social media sites are Twitter, Facebook and now Pinterest. Be careful that your time on these sites are being used to stimulate interest about your business and getting people to go back to your blog to learn more about you and what you have to offer.

For us when we first became entrepreneurs the biggest problem we had was overwhelm. We wanted it all as soon as possible and we tried to do everything at once. It takes time to grow your business and we didn t appreciate how much time each step took.
